I was born in New York. Music was always a big part of my life. I started to play the piano at age 3 and began to sing and write songs by age 5. We had a piano at home as well as other instruments. With my parents support, I went for music lessons, and as I got older I realized that I had a gift and would do anything to protect and develop it. And so came the home demo studio, voice lessons, and many trips into the city for concerts, auditions and other musical activities. People ask me many times, how did I write that? Or what made me go in a particular musical direction. My answer is now and will always be that, I do not know. I feel like I am part of a greater spiritual flow of music and all I do is listen. I take what comes to me and write it down. I sing the melody that hits me like a breeze. It is a simple science. I guess that is what inspiration is. It’s all about being aware of a greater thing that surrounds us. And... I guess that I am a good listener. Of course, I believe that to be an artist you must have skill, and that is why I have sacrificed a normal young life to become the best possible singer/songwriter/producer I can be. It has taken ambition, endurance, devotion, loyalty and an undeniable love for it. My goal was to include a business foundation to augment my musical skills so that I can have a strong musical career. I believe that an education coupled with my talent for writing and performing is an asset for me to be taken as a serious artist for years to come. I received my bachelors in music business and went to hollywood. I had been involved in many projects in the music industry but this one changed my life. While on a recording trip in Miami with Bob Rosa I had become Ill. Bob said to come to Miami after many meetings and we would try recording 1 song. The song came out great and he invited me to stay in Miami and record another. Soon after I had the onset of Multiple Sclerosis & had gone blind in my right eye and I was too weak to even answer the phone. It was a devastating time; I thought that my dreams were over. I went back to NY and stayed with my family to heal. About 4 months later the Rosa’s asked me to return. I was in disbelief. I was so happy to live my dream and share this great gift of music. I decided to contribute to the Montel Williams MS foundation and continue recording a benefit CD for MS research. After learning more about MS I realized that it is poorly funded and it became my passion to bring awareness to this cause. Before the A, B, C drugs (ms therapies) there was no hope for people with MS. They are not a cure, just an effective treatment. Hopefully in time with more research there will be many options and treatments, even a cure. This past year I have finished an album with Bob Rosa, a multi-platinum recording engineer/producer (upwards of 100 million over the last 20 years) who is 2 time Grammy Winner. He has worked on artists such as backstreet boys, Madonna, Nsync, Mariah Carey and Paullina Rubio, among many others. As time went on more Producers joined force with me and I completed this new dream album called “remember me forever”. The Music on the album is a result of my sorrow, hope and unwillingness to give up. Thank you for your time and interest Paul Nicholas |
